Who needs concerts if you have Live Streams? – Live streams to watch during Quarantine

As the days go by in self-quarantine, too many to count at this point, I’m starting to realize how weirdly connected I feel to the world. Everybody’s screen time has probably doubled and I’m seeing many artists and creators in their natural habitat. I see that mostly through the numerous live streams I’ve discovered. Some more entertaining than others. Here’s a few that I found out about that kept me entertained for a little bit during these endless periods of boredom.

Miley Cyrus’s daily episodes of “Bright Minded: Live with Miley”

Miley Cyrus introduced a weekly live streaming show called “Bright Minded” where she connects with special guests like Elton John, Alicia Keys, Selena Gomez, Zoe Kravitz and many more to discuss “how to stay lit during dark times”. If you miss an episode they are also all available in her IGTV.

Lizzo’s meditation videos

After Lizzo’s cancelled show she decided to put a 30 min meditation video on her IGTV (which I know isn’t technically a live stream). In these videos she plays the flute with crystals and incense surrounding her. She mentions that she “wanted to empower everybody” and “wanted to let you guys know that we have power. You have power. You have power to eliminate fear”. So if you’re looking for some soothing and relaxing sounds to meditate or just relax to these are perfect for you.

Swae Lee is going crazy

Swae Lee gave a concert show on his live stream after a cancelled show and he went off. He was jumping off of tables and going absolutely crazy like he does during his regular in-person shows. He wanted to give his fans that same feeling. However, a couple of days after a somewhat random live stream followed of him exercising and grunting weirdly. Before the live stream he decided to cut all his dreads off so I think Swae might be going cray in this quarantine. But to be fair aren’t we all?

Wiz Khalifa’s Live Stream – “The world’s biggest smoke-out”

Wiz Khalifa started a live stream where he smokes, puts on some Soul/R&B in the background and lets fans call in to smoke with him. If you smoke and are tired of smoking on your own you can tune into his live streams and smoke together with Wiz and the rest of the world. However, if you’re a non-smoker or you’re iffy about smoking during this time you can also just sit back and watch if you have nothing else to do.

John Legend’s “live” concerts

John Legend hopped on the live stream train as well and did his first live stream concert. He played songs fans were requesting and don’t worry, he also posted it on his instagram page. He had the camera pointed on him while playing the piano. Tune in if you want to enjoy John’s angelic voice.

Tory Lanez and his “Quarantine Radio” Live Streams

This live stream is somewhat controversial. I would definitely say its R-rated. Rapper Tory Lanez started a live stream show called “Quarantine Radio” that’s supposed to simulate the experience of a club or even strip club. He has girls come on the live and twerk for 30 seconds each. If you’re not a fan of partial nudity then this is for sure not the live for you. What intrigued me was actually the occasional special guest he will bring in, Drake was one of them and took a shot with him on the live. There are numerous artists commenting in the chat like the Weeknd, Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, French Montana and many more. It’ll keep you entertained but I’m just letting you know: it’s not for everyone.

This list could go on forever since every other artist is live streaming at this point. I kind of enjoy it because you get to see celebrities just being like everyone else, which they are. People often forget that these creators are regular people because of this extremely high pedestal that media puts them on. I think that this quarantine is a reminder that we’re all equal in this and that when pandemics and disasters happen we’re all in the same boat. So, if you’re bored and looking for something to watch while you’re chilling in the house I’d suggest looking up your favorite artists and see if they’re live streaming.
