“The Saga of Wiz Khalifa”
On 4/20/20, Wiz Khalifa released a seven track short album. After a comfortable 15 years of rapping Wiz released the first of the Saga that is Khalifa. In live stream interviews with multiple radio stations on instagram Wiz revealed that this truly is the first album of multiple in the Saga. Obviously, the King of Smoke created a feel-good, get high and have fun type of album which he dropped on an international “holiday”.
The album starts off with one of my and the public’s favorite songs off the album called “Y U Mad” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, Mustard and Ty Dolla $ign. He started the album off strong with a spring/summer banger, lightening the mood during quarantine. Even though this song makes me want to go outside and live it up I also enjoy blasting it on my headphones enjoying the sun on my balcony. “Still Wiz” is also definitely in my top 3, or should I stay top 7. It’s his take on the original sample “Still D.R.E.” which I’m sure everybody knows from the get-go. He comes in strong and kills it all the way through. The album of course also features a very necessary smoke anthem “High Today” featuring Logic, which set the mood for the entire day it was released. But in all fairness, the whole album set the mood for the entire month. Quavo, Tyga and K CAMP also made an appearance on a few tracks.
Wiz definitely made a few quick statements with the start of this Saga: he’s still smokin every day, he’s living the lavish life and after 15 years of success he’s still Wiz. If you’re looking for some good vibes during this time of clean air and mostly sunny days this is for sure an album to listen to right now. We just have to keep reminding ourselves that there’s good in bad situations and we don’t have to be upset every single day. We’re allowed to have a good time, we just need to stay safe, clean and decently quarantined.
