Emma is a talented musician and singer who is deeply influenced by the pop music of the 80s. Growing up in a musical household, Emma has always been passionate about performance. She would entertain her family every Friday with “Show Day”, playing the piano and singing. This was just the beginning of a long and fruitful musical journey for Emma.

Starting at the young age of 14, Emma began composing her own songs and has never looked back. Her music is a reflection of her own experiences, particularly her exploration of existentialism, youthfulness, and broken love. These themes are central to Emma’s work, and they are what gives her music its depth and meaning.

1. What does True Identity mean to you?

True identity to me means to be as close to what you are at your core, welcoming different identities that you might have and that you keep evolving and growing as you go through life.

2. At what age did you start making music and what brought you to it?

I’ve been singing and playing instruments since a very young age and have always been performative child. I was drawn to music through my brother who is a great guitarist and then overall my family has always been very into music in general.


3. What inspired you to make music?

I think I was inspired by my mental health kind of. I’m a very anxious person and when I first started  writing my first songs when I was about 13 I was feeling very existential and felt the need to have a creative outlet. It made me feel like I had purpose.

4. What inspires you most about the city you live in? And what did the city add to your individual sound?

Living in Berlin makes me feel like everything is possible. The buzzing culture is amazing and the amount of art you can consume is endless. I just feel that it’s quite magical. Berlin definitely added personality and more experimentation to my music.

5. Who are your icons?

My biggest icons are Fleetwood Mac, Prince, Chic and Ted Gärdestad.

6. Was there a musical experience, a concert, or a performance that touched your soul?

There are a lot of musical experiences that have touched my soul but I think seeing the Swedish band Kent last concert was one of the ones that stand out the most.

7. The pandemic has caused many changes in our everyday lives and routines. How has that impacted your regular workday?

For me it’s the lack of routine. I’m not very good at working from home because I tend to procrastinate so it’s impacted my regular routine quite a lot.

8. When do you feel most creative and most inspired to make music?

I feel the most creative and inspired when I go to smaller gigs, reading and seasonal changes.

9. What are your musical and creative goals for the next few years?

I want to evolve more musically, become better at everything I do and able to do this full-time.

10. And lastly, if you could go back in time, what advice would you give the younger you?

Don’t be so hard on yourself, you’re more than good enough.
